Tony Pipitone, one of the most-honored investigative reporters in Florida, joined NBC6 Investigates in 2014.

He's received 16 Suncoast Regional Emmys, including the chapter's Silver Circle Award in 2012, recognizing 25 years of excellence in television. He's also earned seven Edward R. Murrow awards and dozens of statewide and regional awards.

During Pipitone's career – featured in a five-part podcast, “On Assignment: 40 Years of Florida News” – his reports have helped put people in jail and get them out, exposed political and government corruption, and shed light on other illegal activities. His most recent Emmy- and Murrow-award winning investigation, “90 Minutes of Terror,” revealed weaknesses in the manslaughter case prosecutors brought against police officers in the deaths of two innocent men killed at the end of a chase.

Pipitone joined NBC6 after 27 years in Orlando, where the Orlando Sentinel called him "one of the finest reporters in Orlando television history." His work at NBC6 these past dozen years have only added to his reputation as one of the best investigative reporters in Florida.

He lives in Miami Beach with his wife Myriam. They have two sons and two grandchildren, and try to find time to enjoy the Miami scene -- especially the beach, restaurants and golf courses.
